Biography

Dan got his first record deal at age 17 with his band, The Unforscene, with records released and played in the US and Canada. A re-union album with that original Unforscene line-up has just been released, with 2 accompanying music videos, available on their own CP364 label. Dan performed in Europe, touring Spain, France, and England, with a stint on the BBC; also recorded in Quebec with Country Music star Rene Martel and toured Eastern Canada as her opening act.

Dan then hooked up with Toronto recording artist Frank Soda, playing bass in his power trio, Frank Soda & the Imps, and helping produce Frank’s Greatest Hits album. Later, just for fun, Dan toured Western Canada with a Rolling Stones tribute called Stikky Fingerz.

Dan’s original music all comes together on this website in the form of four albums, including one with his daughters Pascalle and Nasstasia, doing vocals, called Disfunktionally Correct; one with music collaborator, Meghan Lowrey called the Jape Dealers; two Dan Gruve albums, The Alternative Mall Tour, and Yard Sale, plus a parodies album called Songs I Almost Wrote.

Some of these songs have accompanying music videos. They are on this site under the Gallery page.

Dan is currently on tour in B.C., Canada.

Although he is a multi-instrumentalist, Dan is best known for playing bass in a number of bands over the years.
